Taught in a Class sized group at the Shao-Lin Center. Japa Yoga is a form of Yoga that combines a set sequence of Asanas (postures) with periods of meditative rest and relaxation. This unique combination provides both a rigorous exercise and a calming meditation. Yoga can be used to improve overall health, physical fitness, strength, mental clarity, focus and can also be used to help heal and rehabilitate.

Yoga helps to increase flexibility, strength, concentration and body awareness. It can dramatically improve all aspects important in the martial arts, from control and stances, to speed and power. Japa Yoga is also extremely helpful for regular, non-martial artists. See the Links Section for a link to Richard's site and for more information on Japa Yoga.

This class is open to all, students and non-students. Beginners welcome, it is $10 per session. We also offer the option of purchasing 8 Passes for $50 a savings of $30.

JAPA YOGA --------- ITS MEANING

Using an ancient methodology for examining the meaning of words (called NIRUKTI =etymological explanation) we discover that Japa is a composite of "Ja" and "pa".

Ja means-------going back to again and again; repeating; flowing with; reading for; attending to; recognizing; acknowledging; reaffirming; moving toward; knowing; grasping.

Pa means-------protecting; guidance; nurturance.

Add Yoga (to yoke: to join, union,)

....Japa Yoga is a form of yoga to repeat for protection, guidance, nurturance "yoking" the mind, body and spirit.
